A happy body means a happy tattoo! A good meal and plenty of water before your appointment is important. Feel free to bring a snack and some water, just in case. Wear loose clothing that will allow easy access to the area you want tattooed.
Keep in mind that tattooing can be messy! So make sure you come in clothes you wouldn't mind getting dirty.
It is important to treat your tattoo as if it were an open wound. Remove the protective wrap 30-45 minutes after your tattoo appointment. With clean hands, wash the tattoo with unscented soap and warm water. Pat dry with a paper towel and apply a thin coat of Aquaphor. Repeat this step 3-4 times a day for 3-4 days. After that, you can stop the Aquaphor and switch to a fragrance-free lotion that you can apply when needed.
Avoid things like itching and submerging the area in water completely. Showering after your appointment is perfectly fine, but be cautious when using soap. It will be tempting to show off your new ink, but be aware that things like direct sunlight, sand, and sunscreen can and will affect the healing process. It is also important to note that your furry friends are not your healing tattoo's friend! Licking, scratching, pet hair, and pet dander should try to be avoided for at least three weeks.
Seeing as how all bodies are different, healing times will differ depending on such factors. Redness around the area is completely normal and should be expected for a week or two. This can be paired with some oozing as the body produces plasma to help heal the skin. Once this has passed, your tattoo will most likely start to peel and become itchy. If your tattoo starts to produce pus, swollen bumps around the area, and/or rash-like symptoms, it is important to contact your doctor about a possible tattoo infection.
The tattoo scale plays an extreme role in the longevity of your tattoo! While growing and aging with your tattoo, the ink will begin to expand slightly as it settles more into your skin. This can cause small details to blend. To avoid this, it is always recommended to size up your tattoos.
Tattoo appointments will typically begin with some paperwork, followed by skin prep! Preparing the area to be tattooed includes disinfecting and shaving the area. Once this is done, we will begin placing the stencil! The stencil is 100% moveable and can be tweaked as many times as needed. When we find our perfect spot we will let the stencil dry, get you comfy either lying down or sitting up, and then begin tattooing. The sensation can be compared to cat scratch. With that being said, breaks can always be requested. Your comfort is my top priority!
Tattoos are for everybody! No matter the shape, color, or type of skin you have. With that being said, it is important to note that I can not tattoo you if you are under the age of 18, pregnant and/or breastfeeding, or intoxicated. If you have a medical problem such as heart disease, allergies, diabetes, skin problems like eczema or psoriasis, a weak immune system, or a bleeding problem/are currently on blood thinners, talk to your doctor before getting tattooed.
A consultation appointment allows us to meet in person to discuss your tattoo idea. This will allow me to see the area you wish to get tattooed, along with hearing your ideas entirely. Consultation appointments will typically include me taking a picture of the area so I can draw up a design that is complimentary to your anatomy.
Note: You will not be getting tattooed during your consult appointment. This is purely a dedicated time for us to get on the same page with your design.
A deposit is needed to book your appointment. This payment not only holds your selected slot but will also cover drafting and design time for the artist.
Note: This payment is nonrefundable within 72 hours of your appointment. With this being said, it does come out of the total price of your tattoo.
Getting your tattoo touched up is completely normal. With thinner, more delicate, tattoos, it can be typical to see some ink fall out during the healing process. With color tattoos, a touch-up appointment can be used to brighten up any areas that may have dulled. I offer one free touch-up appointment within the same year of your original tattoo appointment.
